Today there was way too much talking~ At some point students need to quit with the talking so I can do my job. I put up my picture of "The Scream" as a message to the students~ Rreport cards are coming next week. Some students could be getting an "N" in classroom behavior. There are 32 students in here with 20 girls! Help!

I will be gone Thurs. & Fri. as 6 of us are going to a computer conference~

*We are starting up International Games tryouts once again. It's a once-a-year track and field evernt for the county at Soquel HIgh. Rio Del Mar has the reputation of performing very well consistently. Tryouts begin next Wed at noon. Students who make the team practice after school from 2-3:30 on Mon. and Tues. Some go to homework club after that. It's wonderful, fun, awesome. The permissions to try ot have been passed out and are due on Mon. We reprersent TEAM JAMAICA!

* There are still some students who have not turned in the Camp Koinonia permsission. Please send it in ASAP.
*Science Fair is 6-7:30.

I have the 8 parents for the O"Neill Ocean Odyssey on April 25. They are: Alisa Black, Tara o'Boy, Ann Berry-Kline, Jim Calcagno, Maryellen Hanson, Susie Ronzano, Karen Salazar, and Susan or Phil Seydel. We can only take a totlal of 40, so the students and I make 32; leaving 8 adults. The drivers need a completed driver form. Thanks!

Students need on their assigned day; the stand-up display with materials used, the journal/notebook in a manila envelope taped to the back of the display, and the written report in the binder. Students should put the initial proposal, inv. plan, and progress report in the back. The speech follows the protocol of the scientific method.

*There has been an adjustment in the Accelerated Reader point system. In order to equalize the discrepancy between the Reading Counts points and the AR points, in 6th grade 80 is the new 100, making grade performance a little easier on the students. The calculation will be now the number of AR points earned divided by 80. The new points earned will be on the progress report next Wed. Happy Groundhog Day! Today is my brother Greg's birthday. He is 57, and he's a high school English teacher in Reno.....

I have had this dreaded cold/flu, etc. all week. I have to say this class has been SO nicely behaved and considerate. All I had to do was put on the board...Another quiet day.... i feel truly blessed to have such a nice class. I'm finally leaving a little early today and getting some real medicine...

Thanks for all the Camp K payments. The slide show presentation is MOn. @ 9 AM. Today we started our SPECTRA artist, Sondra Cohelan, with botanical drawing. It was great...
